Sponsor Information
We are thrilled that you have chosen to partner with Compassion in releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name by sponsoring a child. Sponsoring a child becomes a beautiful and rewarding experience as you journey through life together and hear letter-by-letter how you have made a life-changing difference in the life of an individual child and helped them to become a fulfilled and healthy adult.
Compassion’s desire is that the sponsorship of your child becomes a long-term commitment and that all sponsors will have the opportunity to see their sponsored child grow and develop until he or she graduates from or leaves the program or reaches adulthood (usually between the ages of 18-22, depending on the country). It is our prayer that you will develop a deeper relationship with your sponsored child over the months and years ahead.
As a sponsor you can expect to receive:
- Up to three letters a year from your sponsored child.
- An updated sponsored child photo and report every two years.
- A copy of Compassion Australia’s quarterly magazine.
- Compassion’s annual Christmas appeal with Christmas card/s to send to your sponsored child/ren.
- Compassion’s annual Partners of Compassion appeal.
- A monthly Compassion e-newsletter (if you have provided your email address).
- Contact by a Compassion staff member if there are any significant changes to your sponsored child’s situation or circumstances.
As a sponsor we encourage you to:
- Commit to long-term sponsorship of your child.
- Pray regularly for your child, and consider becoming a Compassion Prayer Partner.
- Build a friendship with your child by sharing words of love and encouragement through letters, postcards and photos. Compassion will supply you with customised writing paper for your convenience. If you prefer to use your own stationery, please include your supporter name and number as well as the name and number of your sponsored child. (You can find this information on any tax receipt from Compassion.)
- Send monetary gifts to your child for birthdays and Christmas. We are unable to send actual gifts.
- Make Automatic Payments by Direct Debit or Credit Card. This payment option helps saves Compassion a considerable sum of money and also saves you time.
- Consider becoming a voice for children in poverty by joining Compassion’s Volunteer Advocate Network.
- Let us know if you are having difficulties making your financial commitment to your sponsored child as we may be able to help.
- Let us know if your contact details change (including phone and email).
