The Philippines can be a dangerous place for a child to grow up. The nation faces frequent natural disasters, including an average of 20 typhoons per year, and not all homes can withstand these crises. The rapid rise in digital connectivity and mobile use has exposed children to unthinkable abuse, with online sexual exploitation a dark reality.

Yet God's Church is on the move in the Philippines. Our local church partners are responding to keep children safe before and after disaster. They know each child personally. This means they can protect children from abuse. In 2023, Compassion launched a local fundraising movement, empowering Filipinos to drive change from within.

Impact in action

Jonah and Judith

Change is happening across the Philippines. By launching partnerships with local churches in remote areas, we are reaching children in greatest need. For families like Jonah’s, this means a future where she can go to school and eat nourishing meals. Over the next five years, new church partnerships will transform lives in 124 more neighbourhoods!

“We are grateful Compassion made its way to our seaside community. We have just begun our partnership, and the mothers are excited to receive vitamins, medicines, food and education assistance for their children. They are also looking forward for their children to have sponsors.”
Renessa, Centre Director in Jonah’s neighbourhood

Joy’s Story: Behind the Scenes
I stood on the street corner, feet in lush green grass, under the shade of a tree. There was no one around and, other than a few birds chirping in the distance, it was quiet. I felt uncomfortable. Wary. It was home, and yet it didn’t feel right.
