A cry for help
Samiya is a mother from Ethiopia who knows what it feels like to lose hope.
After having no food for three days, she threw herself in front of a moving vehicle so her children could get insurance money for food. Miraculously, her life was spared when a policeman intervened and pulled her off the road.
Samiya broke down in tears as she faced the reality of what had almost happened and the price her children would have had to pay. She ran to the local Compassion centre for help.
Thanks to food packs provided by generous people like you, Samiya and her children could be immediately supported. Overnight, the family was able to breathe again.
But that’s not the end of the story. In Ethiopia alone, an estimated 20.1 million people are still facing severe levels of food insecurity, just like Samiya was.
