A truly global food crisis

Donate Now

The rising cost of living is putting pressure on all of us. We’re feeling it in Australia—but so are our global neighbours already living in poverty.

By giving a food pack to provide immediate relief or funding agricultural training as part of a long-term solution, you can help change the lives of the 238 million people still facing life-threatening acute food insecurity.

The power of the local church

Jesus teaches in Matthew 22:34-40 that the greatest commandment is to love God and love our neighbours. Right now, more than 8,600 local churches are working as the hands and feet of Jesus to respond to the global food crisis.

You can support them in caring for children and families living in poverty.

What countries are affected?

Nine of our partner countries are severely affected: Burkina Faso, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Haiti, Kenya, Malawi, Sri Lanka and Uganda.

Where We Work

Food security has improved in Colombia, Ghana and Togo since mid-2023, but our local church partners are continuing to provide holistic support.

Saminya

A cry for help

Samiya is a mother from Ethiopia who knows what it feels like to lose hope.

After having no food for three days, she threw herself in front of a moving vehicle so her children could get insurance money for food. Miraculously, her life was spared when a policeman intervened and pulled her off the road.

Samiya broke down in tears as she faced the reality of what had almost happened and the price her children would have had to pay. She ran to the local Compassion centre for help.

Thanks to food packs provided by generous people like you, Samiya and her children could be immediately supported. Overnight, the family was able to breathe again.

But that’s not the end of the story. In Ethiopia alone, an estimated 20.1 million people are still facing severe levels of food insecurity, just like Samiya was.
